Keeping First Things First:  The Importance of the Creation Message in the Home School – Dr. David Shormann

 Learn the importance of integrating the Bible’s message of creation, fall and redemption into all subject matter and how doing so allows families to achieve the highest standards of learning.

Homeschooling for Beginners – Sue Means

 Hear homeschooling veteran of 23 years share the benefits of homeschooling and how to begin.  Talk is geared toward elementary school and will include a brief discussion of PA’s Homeschooling law.

 

Art History – Hands on Learning – Create Like the Masters & Learn by Creating – Judy Kinnee

 Discover the history of art with easy stunning art projects that your kids will love.  Come prepared to experience an art project from one of Usborne’s award winning books.

 

Special Needs – A Roundtable Discussion – Brenda Krayzel, Jane Maruca & Diane Goliwas

 Topics to be discussed include:  the Homeschool law as it pertains to special needs curriculum, incorporating therapies into your homeschool program, networking and social opportunities, coping with special needs challenges, motivation and scheduling strategies.

 

Digital Interactive Video Education – Dr. David Shormann

 Learn how to use Dr. Shormann’s award winning math and science lectures for grades 4 thru 12.  Presentation includes a new interactive program entitled the CLEP Professor designed to help homeschooling students receive college credit by passing CLEP and AP exams. www.diveintomath.com

Unit Studies for the Struggling Learner – Patti Stoudt

 KONOS representative, homeschooling evaluator and homeschooling veteran, mother of 3 will explain the KONOS curriculum unit study: its hands-on components and the 5D’s of multi-level instruction focusing on character development. Discussion will include identifying your child’s learning style and adapting strategies to replace struggling with success.

 

Healthy Habits for Optimal Learning – Darrell Misak

 One of Pennsylvania’s few naturopaths who is a registered pharmacist will discuss how whole foods and natural health practices improve and enhance learning as well as behavior.

 

Hands-On Aquatic Science – Dr. David Shormann

 Hands-On science can take place in your back yard.  Learn how to catch, identify and observe the plants, fish, animals and microscopic organisms living in Western Pennsylvania’s rivers, streams and lakes.

 

A Homeschooling Father’s Role Defined – Joe Waresak

 Executive director of the PA Homeschoolers Accreditation Agency will describe the varied roles of a homeschool evaluator.  Emphasis will be placed on writing high school evaluations that can be used as letters of recommendation for colleges and scholarships.

 

Intensive Care Prayer Time – prayer team

 Do you have a special need?  Come seek God’s blessing and guidance along with members or our prayer team.  The prayer room will be open all day as a resource to attendees.

Homeschooling High School – Susan Richman

Editor of the PA Homeschooling newsletter, board member of the PA Homeschoolers Accreditation Agency and veteran homeschooling mom will discuss how to  take advantage of the many options available to develop a balanced program meeting the academic and social needs of high school students.

 
Building Families of Character – George & Claudia Vogrin

 Twenty-four year homeschooling veterans and founders of Families of Destiny, a ministry assisting families to strengthen relationships, will share practical tips to develop Godly character in children. www.familiesofdestiny.org

 

Eclectic Studies - Making Science and History Fun – Dawn Marasco

Homeschooling mother of 4 will share ideas on how to make lap pacs.  More than memorizing facts and dates, lap pacs are a great learning source making history and science applicable, hands-on, fun, and memorable.  Great for one or more students grades K-8.
